1-1 1/2cp.Blueberriesideally they should be fresh but frozen is ok.
1tsp.Lemon zest
1cp.Lemon juicefrom 4-5 lemons
3cp.Sparkling water
Instructions
Combine the sugar, water, bluberries, and lemon zest in a medium pot.
Bring to a boil then lower the temperature and let simmer for 10 minutes until the sugar is melted and blueberries start to get saucy.
Remove from heat and let cool before passing through a fine strainer or cheesecloth. Set aside.
In a large pitcher, add the blueberry syrup and lemon juice and stir.
Add ice cubes and sparkling water. Garnish with fresh blueberries and lemon slices.
Enjoy!
Notes
Only add the ice and sparkling water when you're ready to serve the lemonade so that the lemonade doesn't become watered down and flat. For the same reason, if you aren't going to finish the whole drink, pour the ice and sparkling water in glasses, then pour in the blueberry lemonade.
Make it boozy with a bit of your favorite vodka or gin.
Blueberries not in season? Use frozen blueberries.
Muddle fresh mint or basil leaves for an extra layer of flavor.
